I have a Graflex I inherited from my Grandfather. It appears to be a 4x5 Pacemaker(?) Crown Graphic from the mid 50's (sorry I'm not familiar with the history/nomenclature/camera line/etc.) Its serial number is #951770
It has a Wollensak Rapax Graflex Optar 4.7 135mm lens #644111 (the lens coating looks a bit scratched up—anything I can do about that?) and a Kalart synchronized RF (#B17204)
The back has a pop open metal hood with a ground glass focussing screen (perhaps this is standard?)

Can anyone enlighten me? Whatever info I can get would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
John

From further reading, I see that since the camera has the Kalart side rangefinder, it must be from sometime prior to 1955.
Any further info appreciated. :-)

Well, I'm stumped...
"The Book" is extremely confusing in certain areas and this is one of them...

It could be from late 1949 and that's my best guess. A lot numbered from 950,?00 through 963,042.

There's scribbled notes about jumping and changing serial numbers on two pages. The next page has numbered sets from 949,177 through 951,676 dated 4/15/62, then 968,409 through 970,908 dated 9/17/62. Your serial number is not included there.

My best bet would be very late 1949 or very early 1950 as the date can not be read.

I would suggest asking on graflex.org to see if someone else can offer more info...

Wow, more questions than answers! Very interesting.
Thanks, Rich. I'll try that.
