Yes, you CAN ask for serial number dating here!

Post by RichSBV »

Yes, you can ask for serial number dating here for any Graflex, Graphic and even Kodak 2D type cameras. Just start a new thread with your question.

I make no promises about looking the number up and posting the answers, but I'll do my best. I get very busy and usually just don't have the time for such things...

And yes, obviously, I am one of the many people who have a copy of the "book". There's far more than the supposed magic 3 that have copies... And NO, I am NOT the "gandolf" that was giving out serial numbers on graflex.org!

P.S. Do NOT ask for info either through PM's or e-mail. I get enough of that already and it doesn't help anyone else!

Help dating my cameras

Post by DHF845 »

RichSBV-Thanks for creating this thread. I updated my list of cameras. If you have time, I'd appreciate correction of the dates.
The cameras are dated based on the "Not the S.N. Book List". Info from the real "Book" would have to be a lot more accurate.
I followed that dispute at Graflex.org over posting the "Not the...List". It seems like it was quite a dust-up. Why can't all the folks interested in old Graflex and Graphics just "get along"?
It would be great if a complete history of Folmer & Schwing and Graflex Corp. gets written. It would be a big job. If you know of a project like that, I'd like to help.
Thanks-Dave.

Thanks Dave.

And I didn't think this particular thread was 'post-able'?

I suppose I'll have to fix that someday...

I have my own thought and theories about what happened at graflex.org. It's a huge shame and oddly enough one of the people involved is supposedly writing a history of Graflex of sorts. Who knows? All I know is that the "Not" list survives and can be updated. A friend is hopefully typing up a new list directly from the actual Graflex "book" (hmm, I have to e-mail him) and a PDF of the book itself may become public sooner than later. Although it won't help most as it's just a plain old mess and very difficult to follow and read.

We'll see what happens.

As long as we have friendly and interested folks willing to participate, the info will always be available...
