Keep an eye out for The editorial page in Sundays Daily Messenger. I am having and editorial published relative to the South Bristol windmills. Apparently they will also publish a "counterpoint" editorial from one of the Hobart students.

I'm sure the 'counterpoint' will be interesting reading since these 'students' have turned into nothing more than industry spokespeople. I've heard a rumor that Hobart is trying to get some kind of state grant from this. As we know, NYS wants more wind mills and is paying people to get them built. It will get the state a bundle of Federal money that they can then go ahead and waste as usual...

As I suspected, the Hobart student article was just more industry PR garbage full of half-truths. I particularly like their report of the tower lighting. Yes, they are right that a single tower light won't be any brighter than a 60 watt porch light. But what they fail to mention (or are directly trying to hide!) is that the 60 watts of light they're talking about is not at the tower itself, but on the ground below it! Yes, the light from a single tower will illuminate the _ground_ at the same brightness as a 60 watt porch light. And we'll have 20 towers. Hey, talk about energy saving, noone in the valley will have to turn on their outside lights at night anymore!
The actual specs for the tower lighting is two continuously lighted 115 to 125 watt lights (roughly 240 watts total), PLUS a 625+ watt strobe! This is NOT the 60 watt bulb these students are trying to pass off on us. Typical of their poor reasearch and misleading information in trying to promote these towers!
