The mailing lists are here for two reasons. To offer an easy way to let people know what's happening in South Bristol and a way for them to discuss topics important to our town... So subscribe to either (or both) the South Bristol Events list or the South Bristol Views list (pun on name intended:). Post your events or vent your Views...

If you have no idea what a mailing list is or how it works, read through the description below. If you have any questions, feel free to send me an email and ask... If you're familiar with mailing lists, skip through and hit the subscribe or add-to links...

Mailing lists are a dynamic communications forum that function through e-mail. People send their comments to the 'list' which then resends that message out to all the people who are subscribed. Those people can then reply to either the original sender or back to the list through e-mail. The difference between the standard mailing list and the 'digest' are that the standard list sends out e-mails as they arrive. The 'digest' holds the e-mails in an archive which is sent out about every three days to a week, depending on the activity.

Like most mailing lists, absolutely no abuse will be allowed! Any one who harasses other users, becomes offensive or uses foul language or otherwise disrupts the mailing list will be permanently banned from the list!

From this page, you can subscribe or unsubscribe to the mailing lists by using the e-mailing feature of your browser. If your browser does not support the "mailto:" function, you can subscribe or unsubscribe manually as follows:

To subscribe:

Using your browser, click on either subscribe me to South Bristol Events or subscribe me to South Bristol Views. When your browser opens the e-mail window, the subject line will read 'subscribe'. Just send the e-mail and you will be subscribed to the mailing list. If the subject line does NOT have "subscribe" already in place, see the note at the bottom of the page! After you're done, you can repeat the process to subscribe to the other mailing list.

To UNsubscribe:

Using your browser, click on unsubscribe me from South Bristol Events or subscribe me to South Bristol Views When your browser opens the e-mail window, the subject line will read 'subscribe'. Just send the e-mail and you will be subscribed to the mailing list. If the subject line does NOT have "subscribe" already in place, see the note at the bottom of the page! After you're done, you can repeat the process to subscribe to the other mailing list.

Using your browser, click on subscribe me to South Bristol Events digest or subscribe me to South Bristol Views digest. When your browser opens the e-mail window, the subject line will read 'subscribe'. Just send the e-mail and you will be subscribed to the mailing list. For the South Bristol Events mailing list:
SBV-Events-request@SouthBristolViews.com for the regular list
or SBV-Events-d-request@SouthBristolViews.com for the digest.

For the South Bristol Views mailing list:
SBViews-request@SouthBristolViews.com for the regular list
or SBViews-d-request@SouthBristolViews.com for the digest.

In the subject line of the e-mail, enter "subscribe" or "unsubscribe" (without the quotes!) to do either.

To send an e-mail to the South Bristol Events mailing list (add to the list):

With your browser, click on Send to the Events List. When the e-mail window opens, enter in your subject and comments, then send it.

Manually, send an e-mail to SBV-Events@SouthBristolViews.com 

To send an e-mail to the South Bristol Views mailing list (add to the list):

With your browser, click on Send to the Views List. When the e-mail window opens, enter in your subject and comments, then send it.

Manually, send an e-mail to SBViews@SouthBristolViews.com 

Note to Mac and AOL users:

We've had a slight problem getting the automated subscribe working with a Mac through AOL. We don't know yet if the problem is the Mac (or it's browser) or AOL. So, to subscribe to the mailing list, use the manual option explained above by sending an e-mail to
SBV-Events-request@SouthBristolViews.com or SBViews-request@SouthBristolViews.com
with the word "subscribe" in the subject line (no quotes). For the digest version, use
SBV-Events-d-request@SouthBristolViews.com or SBViews-d-request@SouthBristolViews.com instead.
If you have a Mac and/or AOL, we'd like to hear your experience in trying the automated link also. Apparently the auto subject line is not being properly processed and is left on the end of the mail address which of course causes a "Host unknown" mail return. If you have a Mac and not AOL, or AOL and not a Mac, we'd like to see if this will work... Thanks...
